» I've heard that blood samples are more accurate than cheek swabs. Is this true? (Back)
Absolutely not. DNA can be obtained from many sources. From conception to death, DNA can be found in every cell of the human body. DNA patterns do not change with a person's age, medications, lifestyle, or diet. For many years our laboratory obtained blood samples for testing. Technology has enabled laboratories to obtain sufficient quantities of DNA from small, non-invasive sources, such as cheek cells. We have experienced excellent success using our cheek swab sample collection methods.
