» I've heard DNA obtained from a blood sample is more accurate. Is that true? (Back)
Absolutely not. Regardless of the sample type provided, a person's genetic identity obtained from their DNA will be the same. Some sample types are easy to extract sufficient DNA from and others are not. For identity purposes DNA can be extracted from many differing sample types including blood, tissue, hair, skin, and buccal cells to name a few. Affiliated Genetics almost exclusively obtains DNA from cheek cells (cheek swab sample) since they are very easy to obtain from test participants.
