Polar body twining is a theory that twins could be "half-identical." The idea basically proposes each twin received the same genetic material from the mother, then splits and is fertilized by two separate sperm from the father. The result would show identical profiles donated by the mother and two separate profiles donated by the father. Polar body twinning has never been demonstrated in humans nor is there a genetic test that will predict the existence of such twins.
